Today’s Alternative Fuel Car Benefits
July 3, 2009
Alternative fuel cars refer to vehicles that run on any fuel other than petroleum fuels, or any engine that is not thoroughly reliant on petroleum. Having these environmental laws have made alternate power sources a huge rank for the governments and all car manufacturers all over the world
“hybrid” vehicles. They use both electric power and internal combustion. Right now, the most reasonable alternative fuel cars are the electric car, the petrol-electric hybrid, and the solar-powered car.
Most are classified as zero emission vehicles, or ZEHs, because no emissions are made while driven. Electrical energy for these cars are coming from a range of battery chemistry’s arranged intro battery packs. BEVs mainly use lead-acid batteries, NiMH batteries, and lithium-ion batteries.
This commonly refers to gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles, which use gasoline and electric fuel cells for the energy used to power internal-combustion engines (ICEs) and electric motors. The worlds first commercially mass-produced and marketed hybrid car was the Toyota Prius. It first appeared on the worldwide market in 2000, and today has surpassed the mark of one million units.
A solar car is an electric vehicle powered by the suns rays obtained from solar panels on the auto. Although, solar cars are not yet a practical form of transportation. Events managed by government agencies, such as the US Department of Energy, to urge the development of alternative energy technology such as solar cells and electric transportation. Such challenges are often entered by universities to advance their students engineering and technological skills as well as motor vehicle manufacturers such as GM and Honda.
Alternative fuel cars have financial benefits making them more popular. People are sparing more money operating and owning them, not wasting their wallets at the pumps. Some alternative fuels used are ethanol, propane, solar, and battery, just to mention a few. For those who own large 4×4 pick-up trucks and admire the feel of horsepower under the hood, don’t worry! Installing a backup fuel conversion kit is not as unpleasant as it may seem, or as expensive as you may assume. Wouldn’t it be great to keep your dream machine rolling without keeping your eyes ready to the fuel indicator?
Going environment-friendly is becoming a new way of lifestyle for many of us. Automotive industries must lead the new fight to help conserve our earth and revoke prior destruction.
